Find bugs in the software under development. Generate suggestions to improve the project. Find a bug in the code and suggest ways to solve it. The QA department helps us to deal with all such tasks. We talked to Renata, a QA specialist, who told us about her working day, main testing methods, programs used, and other aspects of her job

1) Tell us how was your interview before joining the company? What did you emphasize in your preparation?

- For me, the interview seemed easy. Of course, my education helped me, but I also watched different interview tapes, what questions were asked, what was required, so that I knew the whole basis for answering the questions.

By the way, even YouTube has a huge number of courses and lectures. They're definitely worth studying before going for an interview.

2) How does your work day go?

- I start my working day by checking the actual tasks. The projects I am assigned to are quite complex, so after reviewing the tasks I need to consult with developers and BAs. Only then I proceed directly to testing.

3) What do you focus on in your work?

- Since I test web applications, it's both back, front, and design. My task is to look for bugs and errors to improve the quality of projects and satisfy our customers.

4) What programs do you use for your work?

- Postman, DevTools, and Swagger are the main applications for my work.

5) Have you ever had a time when you wanted to change direction in IT?

- This question is very on topic! I originally wanted to become a 3D video game artist, but the course during my degree was quite compressed. I've always been attentive to details and I like to bring my endeavors to perfection. That's why the final choice fell on testing, which I managed to devote more time to.

6) While working, everyone gains experience, learns something new, discovers and develops new skills. Tell us, what moments of personal development during the working process can you point out?

- First of all, it's the exposure. A large number of projects, tasks. I look for errors, study the functionality of the systems being developed, so in the future I will know more about what points should be carefully paid attention to.

We are constantly in contact with developers and managers. This helps to develop and gain new knowledge.
